1: (wolf, shepherd of cows)

she speaks in riddles,
in limber blasphemy
& what a fool I was to believe!

here I lay beneath the grass,
facing down but my eyes are going up.
I see a deranged fawn
with white spots on her back.

2: (a father and his son)

a sailor who crosses the seas of oil paints
and uses the fallen constellations as maps
to a very specific heaven.

she's called in for a divine intervention;
occupied with angels that smell heavy with disease
& scratch their weapons through the dirt under their feet.

and above! in the spread of the sky
sits a throne of sick gold
dripping with rubies and sunshine.
the king of angels is melted across the throne
(in boredom at the thought of his earth)
but he is quick to strike down his enemies
with white swords of fire.

the perfume of a sickle
that reigns the fields of lavender
until her hands are wet with the blood
from the sunlight above.

abide by the temptation of royalty;
the water bleeds blue and red across your palms
& golden is the color of your hair
when a crown inevitably rests on your skull.

the beauty of an enticing circumstance;
what appeals to many will strike a king down
& the riot will beat him to death in the wake.
& in the meanwhile,
a girl is scolded for dressing in white
because she only works in a soapy red.
